A 25-year-old man is expected to recover after being accidentally shot this morning.

The man was with another man at a home in the 4400 block of Baughman Court where they had been drinking, said Lou Thurston, police spokesman. The two men were handling a gun when it went off, Thurston said.

The man who wasn't shot started to drive the 25-year-old to the hospital, but stopped at a Texaco in the 4900 block of Jefferson Ave. to call 911, Thurston said. 

The man who was shot was taken to a hospital and his injuries weren't thought to be life-threatening.

 Police don't plan to file charges, according to Thurston.
