Three Tallwood High School students have won second place in the Virginia Youth Internet Safety Contest for producing their commercial “Cyber Nightmares.”
Rayne Clinton, Megan Gregg and Kyle Windley won second with 21 percent of the 3,044 votes cast between March 26 and May 1, according to a news release from Attorney General Bob McDonnell’s office.
The first place award, with 60 percent of the vote, went to students from Robert E. Lee High School in Staunton and the third place winners attend Sussex Central Middle School, the release says.
The winning ads were chosen from more than 200 entries from 85 schools across the state, the release says. To see the winning entries, go to www.projectsafetynetva.com [1].
The Tallwood students were to receive Microsoft Xbox 360s and bags of DVDs, the release says.
The contest was part of the Attorney General’s Project SafetyNet Va., the release says.
Its goal is to educate youth and raise awareness of children about the dangers of the Internet.
