HAMPTON

Firefighters temporarily closed Coliseum Drive Monday evening after a maintenance worker was exposed to chlorine inside the pump room of a hotel swimming pool.

According to fire officials the worker was in the pump room of the pool at the Days Inn in the 1900 block of Coliseum Drive at about 6 p.m. when a pipe burst. The worker was treated at a hospital.

A hazardous materials team responded and the street was temporarily shut down.
