What's been up with Hampton Roads celebs?
Missy Elliott, who is preparing to release an album in August, had some drama at her recent 37th birthday party.
Page Six, the New York Post's gossip column, reported this week that the hip-hop star's party in club Marquee was going smoothly until a makeup artist friend of former Diddy choreographer Laurie Ann Gibson got into an altercation with a waitress, who allegedly pushed the makeup artist. A fight ensued. A witness said, "There were people crying, bottles flying and Missy trying to get out of there. It was pandemonium."
Pharrell Williams has stayed busy with a number of pet projects, including a spread in GQ and an appearance in the video for Madonna's latest song, "Give It 2 Me," that he and his partner Chad Hugo produced. Pharrell also made headlines recently for developing a shoe with Converse and for saying he's having skin grown in a North Carolina lab that will later be sewn seamlessly over his skin to cover unwanted tattoos.
And Timbaland went through with his wedding in Aruba in late June. Lynchburg resident Georgia Jones happened to be on vacation at the time and delivered some dish on the reception following Timbaland's wedding to his longtime girlfriend and publicist Monique Idlett.
Jones said she and her boyfriend were at the bar at the Renaissance resort around 11 p.m. when she saw clusters of fabulous-looking people, including singer Omarion.
"I don't get into the whole celebrity thing," said the teacher, "but I told Omarion my kids would love to have a picture, so he let me take a picture with him."
Timbaland was wearing white, she said, and lots of bling, while Monique was in something more understated. "They were holding hands and gazing into each other's eyes."
The reception was casual, she said, and as far as she could tell guests of the resort were able to mingle with Timbaland's crowd on a rooftop pool as long as they were properly dressed.
"I didn't talk to him personally, but I thought it was very gracious of him that he would allow people to come up and take pictures."
