Jon & Kate Plus 8 head to Corolla, N.C. for beach get-away

Last night, TLC aired a new episode featuring the Gosselin's family vacation to Corolla, N.C. in the Outerbanks. Being that the Outerbanks (aka OBX) are only an 1-1.5 hours away from Hampton Roads, it was fun to watch this episode and see some familiar sights.

Jon and Kate took their brood to a few tourist attractions in Corolla including the Currituck Beach Lighthouse (one of the two main tourist attractions) and ventured out on a wild horse tour.

It was highly amusing to watch five of their 4 year-old sextuplets climb 214 steps to the top of the lighthouse. Upon reaching the top and coming back down, Kate excitedly asked one of her little girls if there was a "candy shop at top" to which she replied, "it's just a building" in a know-it-all response. Too smart for their own good. And, thanks to the awesome lighthouse tour guide who helped hold hands/carry two little ones down all those stairs, all the kids made it back down the lighthouse safetly with Jon and Jenny, the family nanny.

The family of 10 also booked a wild horse tour in which Kate was just as excited, if not more, about seeing the horses, as her kids. They had to take three jeeps to get the whole family out on the tour in which Jon had to install six car seats, but it was well worth it for the Gosselin clan. The best part about this segment, besides Kate's excitement over the horsies and the huge jelly fish on the beach, was when she took a picture with her hubby on the beach, looked at her digital camera and exclaimed, "I don't think white is a good color on me." (She was wearing a plain white T-shirt and a teal skirt.) I had to chuckle at that.

The twins and sextuplets were definitely stoked to see the wild horses and ride in the jeeps on the beach, as well as stay in the huge beach house Jon and Kate had rented for two weeks. But, Jon and Kate also had other reasons for heading South. They had a speaking engagement in N.C. (they didn't say where), and they wanted to scope out some real estate on the trip down from PA to the OBX. They stopped in central Virginia where they looked at a huge house complete with horses and a barn, and a wooded lot in the middle of no-where in case they wanted to "build a house to fit their needs."

Kate said she has hopes of moving somewhere warmer and sunnier and that's why they were checking out Virginia. I don't blame her - having lived in Pittsburgh (I only last 6 months), I too, moved here for the beach, warm weather and sunshine.

So get ready Virginia...will the Gosselin clan move to VA?
