NO. 17 | TROY BUTLER
IN SUMMARY | WHAT MAKES Butler GREAT
His Senior Season: Anchored a Hickory offense that scored 30-plus points six times. First team All-Tidewater and second team All-Eastern Region.
2011 Preseason Analysis: Butler, committed to Old Dominion, is considered one of South Hampton Roads' top lineman. Last season he was first-team All-Tidewater and blocked for a re-vamped offense in which his quarterback totaled more than 1,800 yards. Hickory first-year coach Jupiter Wilson, who played at North Carolina, is excited about Butler. “Now he’s going to get a coach who played the same position at a high level and I can’t wait to pass my knowledge on to him,” Wilson said. Wilson added that Butler needs “a little nastiness” for the next level. Coaches like Butler's ability to change movement quickly and get in front of rushing linemen. “I don’t think there’s anybody in Tidewater better than him,” Wilson said. Butler also was recruited by Richmond, Western Michigan, Ball State and Liberty.
