The federal Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services require patients to be surveyed on how well hospitals are meeting their needs. Officials developed the Hospital Consumer Assessment of Healthcare Providers and Systems survey to hold hospitals accountable, give them an incentive to improve and offer a standardized way for the public to compare them. The federal government updates results for thousands of hospitals every three months. The following results are the most recently reported, covering October 2008 through September 2009. Read the story, rate the hospitals.
