Hampton Roads homeowners stuck in drywall limbo

It is one of hundreds in the region built with tainted Chinese-made drywall, which federal product safety regulators say emits sulfur gasses that corrode metal in homes. CDC: No link between deaths and Chinese drywall

NEW ORLEANS The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention said Monday it has found no link between tainted Chinese drywall and the deaths of 11 people exposed to the imported drywall in Louisiana, Florida and Virginia homes.

A pilot program to fix homes that were built with tainted drywall made by a major Chinese manufacturer is progressing well and will likely expand, a federal judge said Thursday.

Judge awards locals $2.6M in Chinese drywall case

A federal judge in New Orleans on Thursday awarded $2.6 million in damages to seven Hampton Roads homeowners whose properties were built with Chinese-made drywall. U.S. District Judge Eldon E. Fallon ruled that all drywall in the homes should be removed, along with all items that have suffered corrosion as a result of the drywall as well as anything damaged in the process of removal.

Federal safety panel: Remove Chinese drywall

Homes built with Chinese-made drywall should be  stripped of all the problem wallboard, electrical wiring and natural gas piping, federal product-safety regulators said Friday.

The Consumer Product Safety Commission, which is leading a $3.5 million, multi-agency investigation into the imported drywall, released guidelines on how the homes should be fixed.
