Former Hokies Archive
The NFL's new collective bargaining agreement seems to have made contract negotiations much easier. Former Hokies running back David Wilson and cornerback Jayron Hosley have agreed to four-year contracts with the New York Giants, according to numerous outlets. Follow me on Twitter and Facebook.
First, thanks to everyone who got on board with liking the blog on Facebook. I'm hoping that will be another good way for people to find out instantly when the blog gets updated. Now, let's recap the NFL Draft a little bit more with a few links: Follow me on Twitter, too.
The NFL Draft is over, with three Hokies -- David Wilson, Jayron Hosley and Danny Coale -- being selected. That matches the number of draftees Virginia Tech had last year, when Ryan Williams, Rashad Carmichaeland Tyrod Taylor were picked.
Danny Coale will be headed to an NFC East team, just like two of his former Virginia Tech teammates.
The Hokies wide receiver was selected by the Dallas Cowboys in the fifth round of the NFL Draft on Saturday with pick No. 152.
David Wilson will be joined by a familiar face in the Big Apple next season. The Super Bowl champion New York Giants went to the Virginia Tech well again Friday night, selecting cornerback Jayron Hosley with the 31st pick in the third round of the NFL Draft, No. 94 overall. He joins Wilson, who was the Giants’ pick at the end of the first round Thursday night.
It's a time-honored tradition for NFL Draft analysts to grade each pick immediately after it's made, even though history has shown that drawing conclusions about somebody before they have ever participated in an NFL practice let alone and NFL game is a foolish proposition.
Just when it seemed like Virginia Tech running back David Wilson wouldn’t be a first-round pick in the NFL Draft on Thursday night, the Super Bowl champion New York Giants swooped in and selected him. The Giants took the former Hokies standout with pick No. 32, the last of the first round. Follow me on Twitter.
The first round of the NFL Draft takes place tonight. As such, I wrote a draft preview for today's paper.
Former Virginia Tech cornerback Jayron Hosley was one of two players NFL teams were informed of recently who failed drug tests before the draft, according to FoxSports’ Jay Glazer.
Virginia Tech postponed tonight's practice until tomorrow because of the rain. I'm sure the Hokies would like a full indoor practice facility about now, no matter where it ends up getting built. As it is, they'll have to make due tomorrow night in the stadium in a final pre-spring game scrimmage. Interviews are late, so expect a very late blog post Thursday night as well.
