Man injured in crash on U.S. 58 in Suffolk

SUFFOLK A man was cut free from a car after he crashed into a tree this morning on U.S. 58 near the weigh station. The crash happened about 7:15 in the eastbound lanes after the man left the road and slammed into the tree, a city news release says.

High-Rise Bridge closure scheduled for Sunday

CHESAPEAKE The High-Rise Bridge on Interstate 64 will be closed for three hours Sunday morning for scheduled maintenance. The closure is scheduled to begin at 7 a.m., according to the Virginia Department of Transportation. Drivers can use the Downtown Tunnel as an alternate route.

Va. Beach intersection to get temporary signal

VIRGINIA BEACH Beginning Monday, a temporary traffic light will direct drivers at the intersection of Laskin Road and Arctic Avenue. Two-way stop signs were installed at the crossing in May, when the signal was removed as part of the Laskin-Gateway project.

Weekend road closure canceled in Va. Beach

VIRGINIA BEACH A closure scheduled for Lord Dunmore Drive this weekend has been canceled. Additional work must be done before a water line can be installed, a city news release says. The closure, at Princess Anne Road, was expected to begin on Saturday and end on Monday.
