VIRGINIA BEACH One team goes into today's Group AAA state field hockey final with a chance to match a record in the national hierarchy. The other will try to establish its own legacy within the state. Taylor Rhea scored six goals Monday to power Cox in a 9-0 dismantling of South County in a Group AAA semifinal at the National Training Center.

Every three weeks or so, before I begin to take on the appearance of a woolly mammoth, I stop by my local barbershop. Lashanda trims the mane on top of my head and fades the sides. The ritual removes my slowly emerging gray hair and gives my dome an air of respectability. The result is a little too close for The Boss’ taste, but it suits me just fine.

Bishop Francis DiLorenzo's pitch for cash this week had to be one of the worst-timed solicitations in recent memory, given the economy, job layoffs and the credit crunch. Then again, when you're trying to provide life-changing education for children who otherwise couldn't afford to attend Catholic schools, is there ever a bad time?
