Despite a hurricane in the Southeast and a snowstorm in the Northeast, consumers continued to shop at Dollar Tree Inc.&#039;s stores, helping to boost its profit by 12 percent in the third quarter.&lt;br /&gt;
Earnings for the quarter, ended Oct. 29, rose to $104.5 million, or 87 cents per share, from $93.2 million, or 73 cents per share, for the same period in 2010.&lt;/p&gt;

 <description>&lt;p&gt;Dollar Tree Inc. has recalled about 117,000 glass votive candleholders because they can shatter while in use, according to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;The candleholders are frosted or clear glass, 2.5 inches tall, with French vanilla-scented candles inside. Discount retailer Dollar Tree said it has completed the purchase of Canada&#039;s Dollar Giant stores for about $52 million in cash.
The Chesapeake-based company said Wednesday that the deal includes 86 Dollar Giant Stores, including substantially all assets, inventory, leasehold rights and intellectual property.
