 <title>Groups to sponsor hound adoptions in Chesapeake</title>

 <description>&lt;p&gt;CHESAPEAKE&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;The Suffolk Humane Society and Suffolk Animal Control will sponsor an &amp;quot;Ain&#039;t Nothing Like a Hound Dog&amp;quot; adopt-a-thon Sunday at the Chesapeake Square PetSmart, 4300 Portsmouth Blvd. in Western Branch.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;Adoption hours are from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. The two groups are also sponsoring an adoption drive on Saturday featuring cats, kittens, other dog breeds and puppies.&lt;/p&gt;

Health officials are asking for the public&amp;rsquo;s help locating a cat that bit a person in Ford&amp;rsquo;s Colony on Tuesday.
The cat is large, black and white with a white stripe down its nose, according to a news release from the Peninsula Health District. The cat looks healthy.

Martin, Gypsy, Gadget, Sylvester, Miss Hatteras, Bootsie, Betsy and Riley were all rescued on Hatteras Island after Hurricane Irene, and they are looking for new homes.&lt;/p&gt;

 <title>Suffolk teen who killed kitten gets probation</title>

A 13-year-old boy convicted of beating a kitten to death last spring  was sentenced this week to supervised probation and given a suspended  sentence of 30 days in juvenile detention.&lt;br /&gt;
The boy, who was 12 at the time of the incident, was convicted Oct.  18 in Suffolk Juvenile and Domestic Relations Court of misdemeanor  animal cruelty.&lt;/p&gt;

Nearly 50 homeless animals found families Saturday and Sunday during  the inaugural weekend of the city&#039;s new Animal Care and Adoption Center.
Residents were lined up to find new pets when the shelter opened at 10 a.m. Saturday, shelter spokesman Wayne Gilbert said.
