<title>Boat building is fun way to get in a little math</title>

		Ralph Pretorius, 8, gripped the low-angle plane. With a longer, smoother stroke, he pared loose curls of wood from the edges of the strake, a continuous plank running from stem to stern on a boat. Watching, boat builder and instructor Joe Filipowski, 59, was pleased. Make sure you keep your stoke delicate and exactly straight, he told Ralph. This boat-building design has not changed in 120 years.  You can find books on boats and boat building in any library but Bayside Library in Virginia Beach . . .
