They canvass for God instead of votes

As Election Day draws near, James Brooks is putting in 70 hours this month canvassing neighborhoods, passing out literature and chatting up strangers.
If you ask him, he'll tell you: He's not voting for anyone.
As a Jehovah's Witness who regularly proselytizes door-to-door with faith-based publications, Brooks hasn't voted in an election since casting a ballot for Richard Nixon 40 years ago.

Extensive restoration project completed at St. Paul's Catholic Church

PORTSMOUTH
Saint Anne, Saint Peter, Patrick, Joseph and James - all the saints have marched back in.
They brought with them Mary, the mother of Christ, her newly brilliant blue robe draped over one shoulder. And there's the Good Samaritan, in bright crimson once more. Over here the Archangel, face fresh and clean, and each feather in both wings as clear as on the very first day.

Oceanfront preachers deliver message with an attitude

Standing atop a 5-gallon bucket, the preacher clutched his Bible and railed against the sins of tourists.
A crowd, mostly teenagers, gathered around him and his partner, who silently held a large yellow sign, on the Boardwalk near 17th Street. More began wandering over from the Dairy Queen, as the man known as "Tommy Paul" launched into a sermon on drugs and sex out of wedlock.
